Cinco de Mayo Beverage Guide

cinco de mayo 2023A round-up of bevies to sip on (that isn’t a margarita) with tacos or nachos or really any other festive moments you can think of!

We’ll Start With Wines:

Avinyo Petillant – Oh so slightly fizzy with round fruit notes and bright citrus structure.  Vibrant and refreshing, the perfect May evening quaffer. Notes of stone fruit on the palate are a great accompaniment to all sorts of spice.  Also available in cans!

Rezebal Rose – effervescent and singular! This rose from the pays basque in Spain is harmonious with notes of wild strawberries and green grass.  Integrated, savory, and zippy – great for fish tacos with mango salsa.

Conejos Malditos Tempranillo –  Carbonic Tempranillo keeps things fresh and juicy on the palate.  Berries shine with a touch of earth and a mineral backbone to keep things structured.  Carne Asada’s bff!

Field Recording Skins – Another great sidekick to spicy dishes!  A real broad blend of white grapes (Chenin, Pinot Gris, Albarino, Verdeho, AND Riesling…phew!) Apricot, orange, peach, persimmon, and marzipan on the palate.  The delicacy of white wine with structure from the skin contact means this can go from porch to snacks to dinner with ease.

Beers & Ciders:

Graft Salt & Sand Margarita Gose Cider –  Mezcal margarita inspired with citrus fruits and just the tiniest touch of smoke on the finish.  Like a super chill marg in a can with just a little more depth of flavor!

Cerveza! From Shoveltown – A Mexican-style lager brewed with flaked corn and light malts to create the perfect warm-weather beer.  Clean and refreshing; you might want to pick up two.

Athletic Brewing Cerveza Atletica – Looking to partake in the festivities but lay off the sauce a bit? This Non-Alcoholic Mexican-inspired light copper beer is just what you should be reaching for.  Aromas of bread crust with light spice and floral notes.  Brewed with summer refreshment in mind!
