Happy Daffy! We’ll be sampling a selection of our favorite spring sippers.
Domaine Brana Ilori Irouleguy – French Basque country white! This blend of Gros Manseng, Petit Corbu, and Petit Manseng is spring in a bottle. White florals, and new fruit sing first, followed by grounding and pleasant minerality. The concentrated palate packs a punch up front, but this wine walks the power & finesse tightrope just right. Makes a great partner for baked cod or French sheep’s milk cheeses. Oh and not to mention, “Ilori” is the Basque word for daffodil – how fitting!
Union Sacre Sylvaner – This winery likes to bring typical Alsatian grapes to the West Coast and this shiny little Sylvaner is no exception. Notes of peachy florals, passionfruit and orange blossom with a pleasant flinty finish; white florals, granny smith apples, and Asian pears on the nose keep things fresh and lifted. This is a perfect table white as the weather gets warmer and pairs perfectly with those early spring veggies – green peas, asparagus, fiddleheads – and especially well with a room full of friends.
Cantina Horus Sud Ovest – Love a Lambrusco? Get your hands on this fizzy Frappato! Bright berry and a playful vibe – can’t beat it. Usually a still grape, the light and lofted Frappato from Sicily lends itself to a little fizz in a delightful way. Integrated fruit, high acid, and low tannins make this a great transition from heavy winter wines to the bright and cheerful tones of spring and early summer. We love a chillable red around these parts and this one is certainly one we find ourselves reaching for.
Along with our selection of wines we’ll have some of our customer favorite cheeses to taste as well! Hello, Alpha Tolman and Agour Mendia…
