“Being kind to animals while being kind to yourself,” is the motto of soap start-up, Buddy Bars Soap Company, who proudly donates 10% of all sales to animal rescue. Buddy Bars is owned and operated by Sherri Marean and her daughter, Lacey.
Before creating her company, Sherri already had a full time job…she happens to be the Operations Manager here at Bartlett’s (a position she has held for many years), but increasingly, Sherri felt a calling to express her creativity while giving back to a cause she was passionate about; animal rescue. The idea for the project came to her while overlooking the ocean with her newest rescue hound, Buddy, and she knew from right then that Buddy Bars was the beginning of meaningful next chapter.
Sherri began small; making soaps derived from natural, certified sustainable ingredients and essential oils, later enlisting the help of her daughter, Lacey, to manage marketing and customer service for the company. One visit to their website will reveal that a lot of love, creativity and care go into the crafting of Sherri’s soaps. As soap choices go, there is truly something for everyone! Choose from seasonal scents like apple cinnamon oatmeal or vanilla pumpkin spice, colorful dinosaur and unicorn soaps for the kiddos, & solid dishwashing soap for those going plastic-free. There are gift sets, gentleman’s soaps, and pretty scallop shell soaps too. Of course, they didn’t forget Buddy’s furry friends, there’s soap for your pooch as well!
Sherri and her family have close ties to Nantucket, having lived on Island for many years. Donations from soaps purchased by Island addresses and from Bartlett’s will go to NISHA. A donation from all other purchases will be forwarded to MSPCA Cape Cod located in Centerville, MA. An especially thoughtful touch from Buddy Bars is that if you have a preferred animal rescue you would like the proceeds of your online purchase to support (say, the rescue that you got your forever pup or kitty from…) simply leave their name in the notes sections of your purchase at checkout.
