Grilling & chilling this Memorial Day

Visiting for the weekend or here for the long haul, Bartlett’s is your stop for all MDW needs. I’m partial to a juicy cheeseburger this time of year, but we have options to please the more picky and discerning as well. Grab the essential grilling accessories and utensils, fresh meat and cheese, and a perfect beverage to enjoy now that we are finally getting a taste of that sweet summer weather. This Memorial Day we invite you to join us in honoring those who have served and to celebrate each other. Cheers!

And just like that, it is Memorial Day Weekend!

The winter season is in the rearview mirror, and we’re excited to hit the ground running here at the Farm. Join us as we enjoy the hint of summer weather that this weekend has brought us in between the bouts of rain and fog. I don’t know about you, but once the temperatures rise above 60, I am ready for the beach and for cookouts. Whether you are on island to remember those who have served our country, to celebrate participants in the Figawi Race Weekend, or you are returning home for the season, we welcome you!

There is no wrong way to (respectfully) celebrate this weekend, and a stop at Bartlett’s is a great choice for whatever you may need. When I think Memorial Day Weekend, I think burgers. The Fourth of July has hot dogs, but the king of this weekend is the burger. Whether you’re hopping on the Smashburger bandwagon, or looking for something a bit more elevated, we got you covered! Our meat cooler is stocked up and ready to go with fresh Schweid & Sons and Wahlburgers ground beef, or Shady Brook ground turkey for a leaner option.

Tip for more delicious, beefy tasting turkey burgers:

add beef bouillon (about ½ to 1 tbsp per pound of ground turkey, depending on your preference) and some Worcestershire sauce.

In my eyes no burger is complete without cheese. Grab our Krystal Cheddar for a complex and rich aged cheddar flavor, or opt for something easier with the Tillamook singles, the adult version of the Kraft single.

The quintessential sides at any cookout in my family is some form of a caprese salad and grilled corn. Though it isn’t Bartlett’s sweet corn, we have a beautiful crop of Florida grown corn in the market, and while we wait patiently for our hothouse tomatoes, the vine-ripened and heirloom tomatoes we have brought in look magnificent. Make sure to stock up on a quality olive oil and balsamic reduction for dressing (the Graza Drizzle evoo cannot be beat), one of our fresh mozzarellas, and finish it all off with Farm-grown basil, one of our first crops of the season!

Can’t forget something to drink!

As always, no cookout is complete without beer and wine. Our Mary Taylor Buzet is a delicious red with no oak, giving it a fresher flavor to pair with your burgers. Try the new Fred Red Ale for a festive beer which features the visage of an older gentleman who looks eerily like our own Phil Bartlett (coincidence?) As always our non-alcoholic selection has anything you could imagine. Keep an eye out for the lovely Erin who will be more than happy to help with any beer and wine questions and pairings.

Best wishes on this Memorial Day Weekend and here’s to another amazing summer,
